The EASIEST New England Clam Boil

This traditional old fashioned New England Clam boil is the perfect year round dish. Enjoy this easy to make clam boil, that requires only a few ingredients!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 TBSP olive oil
  • 2 TBSP minced garlic
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 quart water
  • 1 TBSP crushed red pepper
  • 3 TBSP Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 can beer
  • 1 TBSP onion powder
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 8 lbs clams
  • 1 lb linguica
  • 2 sticks butter
  • wax paper
  • 2 russet potatoes

Instructions
 

  • Add 2 TBSP of oil to a large pot
  • add chopped onion and garlic, and let simmer for 1 minute
  • add 1 quart of water, and beer
  • Add seasonings to broth
  • Wrap breakfast sausage in wax paper to prevent it from breaking
  • Add potatoes to broth and cook for 10 minutes
  • Once potatoes are tender, add wrapped sausage and linguica
  • Add clams, cook for 20 minutes until clams open
  • Once clams are done, use a slotted spoon to spoon the clams, sausage, potatoes and linguica into a bowl.
  • Into smaller bowls, spoon broth into these bowls
  • Use a small saucepan to heat up 2 sticks of butter, pour butter into small bowls
  • Serve clam boil, with broth, and butter for dipping
