The Best Homemade Granola

Ever need something crunchy for breakfast? Well this is the best homemade granola to add to your everyday breakfast!

Ever go to the grocery store in search of granola and you find these tiny bags that cost $7 or $8 dollars? You think β€œhow long would this bag last?” Weather you have a big family or a small one that small bag of granola is not going to last very long. So with that mindset, I set off to make my own, and I think it is even better than the one found in the store and costs a lot less to make! Granola can be dressed up or dressed down in so many ways. You can add fruit and yogurt and make it a filling breakfast. You could make it into granola bars and have on the go. The possibilities are endless, and so are the toppings you can add.Β 

This is a simple vanilla granola recipe. You could swap out vanilla and add your favorite caramel syrup, or omit the vanilla to have plain granola. You can even add some pumpkin pie spice or apple pie spice and make it pumpkin or apple granola.

Homemade Granola

Homemade granola can be be used to make so many delicious breakfasts and treats! Put it on top of yogurt, cereal. Use it to create other tasty snacks like granola bars or cookies!

Equipment

  • 1 food processor optional
  • 1 oven gas/electric
  • 1 cookiesheet
  • 1 tiny bowl for melting coconut oil
  • 1 medium bowl for wet ingredients
  • 1 large bowl for dry ingredients

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup of chopped mixed nuts
  • ΒΌ cup coconut oil melted
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 TBSP vanilla extract measure with your heart
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 TBSP chia seeds

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees F
  • In a large bowl add rolled oats
  • Chop 1 cup of nuts in a food processor or chop by hand. Add to bowl.
  • In a small bowl melt coconut oil in microwave for 30 seconds.
  • Add to coconut oil to separate bowl for wet ingredients.
  • Add 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup.
  • Add vanilla extract
  • Add cinnamon and chia seeds.
  • Mix wet ingredients with a whisk, and add to large bowl with oats and fold in mixture until oats are coated.
  • Take a cookie sheet and spray with cooking spray and lay down parchment paper
  • Add oats mixture to cookie sheet and spread out into thin layer.
  • Once oven is preheated place cookie sheet in oven for 60 minutes.
  • Once done, take out sheet to cool.
  • The mixture will be soft coming out of the oven but will crisp up as it cools. ENJOY!

Notes
